Seminar & Presentation Descriptions
Fitness and Injury Prevention for the Fly-Fisherman
There are many things that can ruin the fly-fishing excursion and we discuss those factors, causes, and prevention points. We will show an informative and humorous Powerpoint presentation divulging into the injuries that can occur. Everything from sprained ankles, to bee stings, to hook impalings will be covered. Not sure what items to carry in a portable first aid kit? We will give you our recommendations on items that you shouldn't be without. This is a very informative presentation and will leave the viewer with another look into how we can continue to fish in a safe manner.
The Fly-Fisher's Guide to Gear Organization
Have you ever wondered what to do with all of the fishing gadgets that you have accumulated over the years? Should you bring them all with you or just some? Which ones should I take with me? How long does flyline last on my reel? When should I clean and maintain my reels? How often? Is there care for my flyrod and how can I ensure it's use through the years? We will cover a broad spectrum of ways to make you "anal-retentive" and not fumble for items on the stream. We will cover in-season as well as post-season gear maintenance.
What to Expect on a Fly-Fishing Guided Trip
This presentation will ease your reluctance into whether or not a guide is for you. We will include what to expect in a fly-fishing guided trip, guide traits, meals, equipment, tipping, needs & requirements, and attitudes. Many of us in the past have opted not to fish with a guide and maybe it was a matter of money and maybe it was a matter of being timid. We will cover what the guide expects of clients and what you should expect out of your guide.
Match the Hatch - A New Fly-Fisher's Guide to Entomology
We will cover the ever-so-confusing world of bugs and their importance to fly-fishing. This will include great live samples of most insects that will be passed around. We will not only cover a basic understanding of the bugs and the hatches, but what flies most mimic them and the behavior of trout that dictates feeding habits. We will recommend a fly selection that will cover most bases. We will include a great Powerpoint presentation and handout our own Hatch Chart for SW Wisconsin.
Introduction to Fly-Fishing

We will cover everything from basic equipment, casting, reading streams, basic entomology for the fisherman, knots, flies and their selection, landing and playing fish, and photography. This is a beginner seminar and handouts will be provided. Equipment will be brought in and passed around. Join us in sharing the world of fly-fishing with those who may have overlooked it in the past.
